Abstract
Mobility is a great predictor of successful aging and independence for older adults. There is a common perception that driving is the primary key to independence. This study looks at the impact of providing a comprehensive guide to transportation alternatives for seniors as an effective mechanism to helping seniors maintain independence after driving cessation.
This paper will examine the hypothesis that the primary reason older adults do not utilize transportation alternatives is due to a lack of awareness about available resources. This paper will also highlight that the key to 'aging in place,' or remaining in one's home, is access to transportation.
