Abstract
The author of this study, Joshua Sanderson, is currently working for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), Seattle VA Regional Office as a Military Service Coordinator (MSC). He has been employed at the VA since 2010 where he has held numerous administrative positions including claims developer, examiner, and management staff. His current role is a unique blend of social work, customer service, and quality assurance.
The Seattle VA Regional Office Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) MSC site executed the nationally directed Veterans Benefits Management System (VBMS) in efforts to improve efficiency and satisfy requirements of the E-Government Act of 2002. JBLM is one of the largest premier military bases in the United States and boasts an extremely large veteran populace. A review of relevant literature discusses the requirements for VBMS and how the JBLM site has identified items of interest to aid in current and future program implementations at the MSC level nationwide. The primary source of data will be collected through human resources of the Seattle VA Regional Office. It will highlight ineffective practices and identify possible solutions for current and future program implementations. The results and recommendations of this research will be provided to key decision makers in efforts to better the program implementation of current and future VBA program initiatives.
