Abstract
This paper provides a review of the impact of the Veteran's Recruitment Appointment Authority's prioritized hiring requirement of highly disabled veterans for physically demanding positions and the implications of having service-connected disabilities waived. It addresses Federal Law Enforcement entities, agencies as a whole with a magnification on Federal Protective Service, Department of Homeland Security. The potential for policy reformation in the Veteran's Recruitment Act (VRA) may assist the federal government in achieving resource conservation and obtaining candidates who are able to successfully complete the federal law enforcement training programs without compromising their service-connected disabilities and pension awards.
