Abstract
Changing jobs is stressful enough. Coupled with a job transition from private to public sector or vice versa causes even greater anxiety. Either way, employees must make complete paradigm shifts to adapt to various facets of the new classification or organizational culture. For State workers unfamiliar with State hiring practices, one integral part of this transition includes adjusting to the unique State hiring process. Such job changes often require applicants to take State oral examinations. To help make this cultural transition easier, the Lottery offers employees a special course entitled, Preparing for Oral Exams. This paper examines the effectiveness of the course in preparing and enhancing the experience of Lottery employees to the State oral examination process.
