Abstract
On October 17, 1989, an earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale hit Northern California with its epicenter 60 miles Southeast of San Francisco. Fourteen days later, Governor Deukmejian called the State Legislature into Extraordinary Session which convened on November 2, 1989. This report summarizes the Legislature's response to the Northern California earthquake.
