The subject of our hearing today is the BKK Landfill in West Covina. The landfill has become increasingly controversial over the past several years. The controversy has increased as new information on the site has come to light that has raised questions concerning its safety and integrity. The concern of the citizens of West Covina, of course, deepened greatly when migrating gas from the landfill forced the evacuation of 21 families who live along the southern border.
